The Defacto Standard

Been using the PDF library for over 10 years now. We use it to make custom documents as a plugin. Have used it to implement all sorts of PDF related features from custom image clipping to accessibility text for hearing impaired.

What they liked
  • Generates good clean PDF's, Very handy in cleaning up bad PDF's as well
  • Really this is the standard that everyone else try's to measure up to
  • The software has very good handling of PDF Documents many times it can load bad PDF's and fix the errors in them as well as clean up PDF document data for better optimization
Room for improvement

Expensive, I guess you get what you pay for sometimes but its a huge reason why many people will/cannot use it

This is the best PDF software

This experience has been positive, I’m satisfied. Signing documents without pen and paper or face to face meetings has saved time and propelled us into a better way of getting work done. This has saved the day many times when I received PDFs from clients and sometimes even from our attorneys that have tons of errors. I don’t know how else I would have fixed them. Like I said, Adobe is the creator of the PDF and will likely always be the best way to generate and edit them. The person or company who created something will almost always know more about it than another company who came along later.

What they liked
  • Adobe created the Portable Document Format or PDF
  • This is the best PDF generator, reader, and editor
  • It’s the best way to print PDFs
  • This can be used with Adobe software like Adobe acrobat, giving it more uses
  • Sign documents without using pen and paper, cleanly without errors
  • If a PDF does have errors Adobe PDF library is able to fix them
  • Convert or compress a file
  • All of the current updates in the PDF world are present
Room for improvement
  • This is expensive
  • Some people think it’s hard to use, the Java version has given me temporary problems
  • Signing documents is faster with newer APIs
Switched From

This we only tried for a short time and quickly returned to Adobe PDF library and Adobe acrobat. It’s basically the same but Soda PDF wasn’t as good.

Why they chose it

"Adobe is a company everyone knows and we trust them more than companies we’ve never heard of."

A must have for everyone dealing with PDF

We usually are able to do what we want. Except for big pdf (or poorly formatted) where sometimes we find some operations very slow.

What they liked
  • Low level API Good documentation Easy to implement
Room for improvement

Very slow for some operations Very slow with huge PDF (sometimes it takes more than a day to merge several PDF and save the result)

Great software for PDF creation and edition.

I've used PDF Library for only the trial period and did not subscribe further as many of the advanced functions were not of my interest and overall speaking the software is just too expensive.

What they liked
  • Adobe PDF Library is the most comprehensive software for PDF files
  • Is all-in-one for PC, tablet or mobile phones, allowing users to create or edit PDF files on the go
Room for improvement

Pretty much any software from Adobe is considered too expensive for general users

Datalogics API Review.

It is very good, I can easily use the API's by the manuals/

What they liked
  • Easy to use, Understandable API's for writing and reading the document
Room for improvement
  • Some documents can not be opened
  • When opened by Adobe they are automatically repaired and ignored some others
  • Some of these auto error correction have to be implemented in case of PDF Rendering libraries
