About Creo

Creo is a 3D CAD software, which helps businesses across many industry verticals including aerospace and defense, automotive, life sciences, oil and gas, retail, consumer goods and more streamline product design and development. Key features include automatic window activation, custom shortcut commands, model tree visibility, charting tools and notifications. Teams using Creo can create CAD models by applying geometric dimensions through model-based definition (MBD) and detailing capabilities. The generative design tools enable engineers to automatically produce designs by defining a set of system design requirements. Creo Simulation Live allows managers to receive instant feedback on design decisions across their CAD environment. Additionally, Creo Ansys Simulation helps produce high-quality products through automated meshing, modal analysis, finite element modeling idealizations, joints and more. Creo facilitates additive and subtractive manufacturing by enabling designers to minimize weight using advanced lattice structures and high-speed milling toolpaths. Teams can connect and communicate product information, which helps streamline collaboration across multiple design enviro...

Creo: Best CAD Tool for Complex Assemblies

The overall experience of using Creo in my day to day professional life is fantastic. It helps me a lot as it has a lot of integrated features like EZ Tolerance Analysis, Creepage and Clearance Analysis, etc.

What they liked

The best thing about Creo Parametric is that it provides rich set of features with the complete depth for all of the modules like Sheet Metal, Part Modelling, Assembly, etc

Room for improvement

Because of having a rich variety of features, it becomes difficult for a new user to learn it easily as compared to other CAD tools like SolidWorks

Great CAD software with a few key features holding it back

Overall, I am pleased with my experience. Creo is not the most intuitive software, but once you figure it out, it is usable. The program itself runs very smoothly and easily works with any other software. It also has infinite customization options to help with workflow.

What they liked
  • Its rendering capabilities are by far the best and easiest to use among all of the CAD software
  • I also like the cable routing application as it makes modeling wire super easy
  • I also appreciate how it will import any file, regardless of type
Room for improvement
  • I use it primarily for sheet metal and have found it somewhat lacking
  • You are unable to regularly extrude and merge a solid
  • I just created a new solid while your existing sheetmetal stays the same
  • This is very frustrating, as sometimes it is easier to just extrude than to use a flat or flange
  • The other thing is that when you are creating an assembly, there is a design structure based on when you put the part into the assembly
  • That means there is no way of mating two parts if it has been added after the first part

Company-wide decision. Our small company was acquired by a larger company that was on Creo.

Creo is CAD made easy

Overall CREO is a brilliant platform. It brings CAD to those who are limited in drawing skill or have not had extensive CAD training. It enables almost anyone to simply come up with a design be it for University projects, quick 3D printing models and can also be used in the professional sphere.

What they liked
  • The thing I liked most about this software was the ease of use
  • Unlike other CAD software the user interface is very straight forward and doesn't require the user to have used the products for years to be able to use
  • The free form capabilities allow for entry level CAD designers to realize whatever design comes to mind
Room for improvement
  • The Cons was the lack of post production outputs
  • The graphics for instance is not as crisp as other premium CAD packages
  • The Software is less cross platform friendly than the other packages I have used
Switched From

I had to try another CAD platform at the time when I didn't have access to Solidworks and I was pleasantly surprised how quickly I could produce an output with very little orientation required

Daily CAD-software, if you are able to configure it

We are designing products in the industrial and automotive sector. Most of the products are made out of plastic.

What they liked
  • I use this software daily in my job
  • You have to do trainings to know what great functions this software has
  • Also, if you know all config options and mapkeys, you can work very quick and comfortable
Room for improvement
  • Price is not really cheap, but OK for a company
  • Also the configuration is not that easy, but if it's done once, you will have much fun
Why they chose it

"Experience from school, most of automotive customers use Creo."

Creo by PTC

I will give it 4.5 stars as a result of my experience in 5years.

What they liked
  • The best thing I found in this 3D Modeling software as compared to others is; the drawing options and interface is just amazing with respect to other but at the same time not much user friendly
  • Creo have to work on making commands easy to use, requiring less expertise
Room for improvement
  • Overall, I found this software amazing
Why they chose it

"Creo provides more professional platform as compared to other 3D Softwares."

Catia - perfect for designing

On one hand it gives endless possibilities, on the other hand it is so complex that beginner may find it difficult to use it. However definatelly it pays off when you get to know most of the functions.

What they liked
  • CATIA provides a lot of possibilities for 3D designing and assemblies management using toolbar
  • I believe it is the best software for modelling allow to easily navigate and manage the model(s)
Room for improvement
  • For new users it may be quite challenging to start using CATIA with all toolbars
  • Additionally the software is quite expensive

One of the best softwares in the industry

One of the most powerful software in the industry for 3D modeling and cad engineering.

What they liked
  • It makes assemblies so so much easier
  • The Interface is setup very nicely for 3D modeling
Room for improvement
  • It has a steep learning curve and takes some time to master it
  • It is a little hard to use for sheet metal designs
Switched From

Catia was a costlier option in the longterm.

Why they chose it

"The overall featureset and price point just hit the sweet spot for my use case."

Creo: Get Accurate 3D Modeling with Many Features

Creo is a powerful 3D modeling platform that is easy to use and provides many helpful features. It is perfect for creating complex objects, and I find the Parametric feature to be particularly useful for creating detailed models. Additionally, the Creo Illustrate app gives users the ability to create dynamic product illustrations with ease. All in all, my experience with Creo has been very positive; it works well and looks great!

What they liked
  • The thing that I liked most about Creo is how powerful it is
  • It's packed with tons of features that make it easy to create complex 3D models
  • I also really like the user-friendly interface, which makes it easy to navigate and quickly find what you need
  • And the fact that Creo Illustrate can be used for technical illustrations is great - it allows me to create beautiful visuals with ease
  • Finally, Creo Parametric has some great automation tools, which help save time when designing complex parts
Room for improvement
  • One of the downsides to Creo is that its features may be too robust and complicated for beginners to use
  • It has a steep learning curve and can be difficult to master all the tools it offers
  • As such, it might not be the best choice for those just starting out in 3D modeling

Easy, Intuitive and a great tool for 3D MCAD, ECAD design starters

CREO is easy to use, friendly for beginners and the scalability of the software is very high and definitely worth for money. Not a great tool for advanced designers as lack of integration to platforms like Eagle elctric design, ROS robotics etc.

What they liked

Advanced Assembly extension in CREO parametric is simple great for top down design approach, surface modelling, sheetmetal modelling, concurrent data sharing between various created components by the key integrator and great assembly configuration

Room for improvement
  • CREO rendering is way inferior with regards to its competitions like CATIA or Solidworks
  • CREI render studio isn't powerful, renders aren't close and products are a lot grainy
