Excellent HEC-RAS interface, with LIDAR processing ability and great tech service.
GeoHEC-RAS has all the reliability and advantages of the HEC-RAS program, with several crucial extra features. These extras features have saved time and money for our company and clients on countless projects. GeoHECRAS can use and process LIDAR data (without a separate GIS program), as well as conflate field survey data directly onto cross-sections. It turns CAD entities into terrains, centerlines, and cross sections with just a few clicks. These extras features have saved much time and money for our company and clients. The savings caused us to switch and the friendly, responsive tech service has kept us coming back.

Improved functionality for HEC-RAS but at a cost
Great customer service from CivilGEO. Improvements to a existing free software. Too expensive for most.

GeoHECRAS Version 3 Review
GeoHECRAS is absolutely fantastic. We use it for all of our floodplain modelling projects and ensure our staff is fully trained in using it. The greatest advantage of using GeoHECRAS is their technical support team. They offer, without any doubt, THE BEST technical support for any software our company uses. The GeoHECRAS team is responsive and exceptionally helpful. Their technicians know their software well, often know the requirements of our reviewing agencies, and are constantly on call to answer your questions or help you with challenges. Training to use GeoHECRAS is very easy because their technical support team will help you at every step (something not very common for most software companies). Where most technical support teams will require you to post questions to an online forum, GeoHECRAS's technical help team will provide direct phone support and even remote access assistance to help you with your modelling. We have never waited for response from their team, they are there to help you immediately, when you need it. This help has been absolutely invaluable to our firm.

- We extensively work with CAD and GIS files, so GeoHECRAS integrated extremely well with our company's workflow
- CAD files can be directly imported into GecHECRAS and used to create streams, cross-sections, and elevation terrains
- All GeoHECRAS models and results can be exported back to CAD and shapefiles easily to be included in report figures
- GeoHECRAS interface can at times be a little slow when working with very large and complex files
- We do a lot of work remotely through network servers
- GeoHECRAS often requires models to be saved locally for the software to function optimally

- One of the best features is that GIS is already integrated in the software
- This saves time from bringing in GIS data from scratch
- It has a digital terrain cross section feature that allows you to review model without any hassle
- Floodway and floodplain mapping is relatively easy compared to similar software
- This software need you to have basic understanding of HECRAS modelling
- You have to have prior knowledge in order to learn
- You can not just pick up and learn it
- Company has less training resources available for users

GeoHECRAS Review
Overall, my experience with GeoHEC-RAS has been exceptional. I'm quick to recommend it and can use it with confidence, knowing full well that if I have any issues, customer and tech support will be there assist.
What I value most about Geo HEC-RAS is the ease in which a person can use it and the exceptional customer support that is available if any issues or questions or arise

Geo HEC-RAS user
My overall experience has been positive. Early versions of the program had minor bugs. The GEOHEC-RAS team was quick to respond and address the bugs. Subsequent versions have addressed all of the early bugs.
- The software allows the integration of CAD information, GIS information, and previous HEC-RAS models
- This simplifies model updates and calibration
- The program required more CPU capacity than my previous computer had
- Once my computer was updated the program functioned much better

GeoHECRAS simplifies hydraulics for bridge projects
Very nice experience. I have contacted the technical support many times for multiple projects and they were super knowledgeable and helpful.
It has more functionalities over HECRAS (the freeware for hydraulics) and cutting cross sections is a breeze
- I don't find anything to dislike in GeoHECRAS

- I like that it includes all of the basic hydrology and hydraulic tools all in the same software package
- It is very convenient to have this software as a "one stop shopping" experience
Selection and windowing is cumbersome at times and takes a little to get used to as it is different than AutoCAD or Windows
