Very mighty and mobile tool
This is the best choice you can make when it comes to 3D modeling on iPad.
- very intuitive usage - very mobile (work everywhere) - quick (just two clicks and you start to design) - great for showing off designs at clients site
- lack of material textures (carbon, alu, steel) - lack of assembly tools for more complex designs done on the go
Switched From
It fulfills my needs that I have when manage projects in the industrial field.

Intuitive and easy to use- ideal for previous SolidWorks users / Autocad users
Excellent. Very simple to use and extremely powerful. Lacks more advanced features but the App is constantly improving. I would have liked the App on Android as well.
- Relatively quick learning curve with useful tutorials in the App to help guide you
- The App is intuitive and easy to use with an Apple Pencil
- Some features are missing if you compare it to, for example, SolidWorks, e
- g
- 3D patterns, revolve tool and other tools that enable mechanical connect, i
- e
- screws
Switched From
Solidworks is extremely expensive and offer no option for individual users/hobbyists.

A remarkably simple 3D drawing/CAD/modelling iPad app - maybe too simple
Shapr3D is remarkably simple to use, and great for creating quick and fairly simple 3D models, with a range of export options and a generous free trial.
- What I like most about Shapr3D is its genuine ease of use
- 3D modelling and CAD programs traditionally are very clunky and difficult to operate unless you have full knowledge of the programs
- With Shapr, it is unbelievably easy to create 3D models and perform various standard 3D modelling functions (such as chamfering, extruding, intersecting and capping)
- For similar functionality on PC, you would be paying far more and be in for a much less intuitive experience
- Also, it exports to several different file types - STL and OBJ file formats are allowed thankfully
- What I like least about Shapr3D is rather ironically, its simplicity
- For any more detailed 3D model creation and for advanced 3D functions (such as vertex painting, edge sculpting and modifying topology), it just cannot compete with more advanced modelling programs
- Mind you, it is an iPad app and its ease of use makes up for this, and perhaps this isn't the program for doing advanced 3D work

The best choice of 3D design software in my opinion.
I use this program many hours a day, in each of the projects I am working on. I have been able to advance much faster in the development of my ideas since the way of drawing is very intuitive. I still do not handle 100% of the available functions, however I have been able to do each of the parts that I could imagine. It has a YouTube channel in which they publish useful examples to better understand how some parts can be drawn.
- A complex system can be designed in much less time
- When you write to technical support, they respond and solve
- They also listen to user suggestions
- Drawing with Apple Pencil is very convenient
- It is very easy to export the files for 3D printing
- I have not yet been able to couple parts and simulate movements without the design being disarmed
- If you want to align the center of two single cylinders for example, I don't know yet the tool to execute this action with ease
Switched From
I like more the Shapr3D interface and the ease with which the designs are made.

An easy to use CAD package for iPad and your MacBook pro
Very easy to use, I’m familiar with fusion 360 and FreeCAD and it was easy to pick up and start using. Also possibility to use callipers and design straight in the place where part is needed is really fun.
- The ease of use when you can bring your CAD software with you
- I’m designing parts too 3d print as a hobby and it was blessing to be able to use CAD on ipad with Apple Pencil
- It’s a little bit expensive as it’s lacking some of the features one would expect from CAD package, the biggest issue it’s not parametric modeller, so adjustment of parts could make it a headache, also no plugins to create gears
- Or check assemblies for collisions
- Also the price is a little bit steep as it’s not a parametric modeller, and will mostly be used by hobbyists
Switched From
I have iPAD pro and wanted to use it for cad modelling. It’s one of two usable choices on iPad.
Why they chose it
"Better User Experience and less steep pricing options."

Excellent and easy to use 3d modelling tool
We use Shapr3D to design escape rooms, puzzles and furniture. The software made our work easier, since we do our concept design as a group. The software gives us the opportunity to think in 3D and show immediately what we think would be the perfect mechanism or solution for a given implementation.
- Easy to use and an intuitive ui
- For me using the Apple Pencil to do my drawing is a lot better than a keyboard/mouse -combo
- This obviously has its limitations, but for my use case and the ability to quickly sketch in 3d anywhere is a killer feature
- Being only on the iPad is the biggest downside
- A viewer app for Mac would make my workflow a lot better than it is now
- Being able to view and measure on a bigger screen would be great
- Otherwise with the recent addition of iPadOS there are very few cons
Switched From
Workflow, ease of use, better handling of round objects

Best mobile cad app for the ipad
We use shapr 3D to design furniture, products, as well as architecture / interior design modeling while on site and in the studio. It can also import external mesh and cad files needed for your design approach and later export the design as mesh or cad format needed for 3D printing, rendering, or further cad modeling / documentation in other external cad applications. Shapr3D paired with sketching applications such as sketchbook are a tremendous value combining both 2d and 3D designing on a mobile device but with desktop grade power.
- Shapr3D has the power of industrial strength cad but providing this to a very designer friendly interface and workflow
- It provides all relevant modeling and sketching/drafting commands needed to create geometry on the go, while in the model making shop, or while ideating along or with a client
- Currently it mainly focuses on solid modeling

The best and only iPad CAD app
Verified reviewer
- It's very easy to use, everything it's where you expect it
- It can export in many file types and they are updating it very often and they are adding new ones
- The use of the apple pencil makes everything easy and good to use
- Sometimes there is a bug, the app doesen't let you edit a shape, to extrude it and to make any changes on it
- You have to restart it
- You can't do so many things on this app like on an Inventor for example, but they are getting closer

The ultimate design tool for iPad
This is the best modelling software on an iPad, many people, including me, are buying an iPad just so that they can use this software. It has the best integration with its counterparts such as Fusion 360, Rhino and various competitive solutions.
- An iPad, an Apple Pencil, and you, that's all it takes to create production-ready models
- It's a revolution in the industry
- It is a discreet reminder that we are living in the 21st century
- The cherry on top is that it comes with intuitive tutorials
- Shapr3D should have had an option where it does not require an Apple Pencil to be able to operate it, also, a one-time purchase plan would be much better than being freemium
- A version could be there where people could learn the software then decide whether to invest in it or not
