For me, Solidworks is always the best. Initially, I was intimidated by Solidworks' interface, but I

I teach students computer-aided design.

What they liked

It's easy to learn, it's user friendly, and drawing of complex surfaces can be done easily

Room for improvement

unfortunately, although Solidworks is a tick font software, it remains not affordable, in fact, its cost is very high, which is a major inconvenience

Switched From

Because of technical support issues (the computer cannot handle the volume of the software) or educational reasons, I switched from Solidworks to another product.

Why they chose it

"SolidWorks Premium is easy to learn, it's user friendly"

Solidworks is industry standard a easy to learn, but expensive

SolidWorks was the first CAD software i ever used, in the start if you use others you are going to think that all the other are too hard to use, but as you become a experienced designer things start to become way better in other softwares.

What they liked
  • SolidWorks in most engineering schools is going to be the one that is teached first, it is pretty easy to use and learn, has its most important tools in the first page wich makes it the best for startes
  • The Render tools are by far the most sofisticated in the market for a long time, so if want to impress a client thats a must
Room for improvement

It's easy to use and learn in the start, but as the modeling goes more complex, and you need to simulate a mechanism or even a make a stress–strain analysis it becomes harder, some of the tools are hidden in the software and you need someone that passed through to find the habilit a lot of its tools that you going to need, like weldment tab for an exemple

Why they chose it

"It is more complete in render tools and my team already used it in previous experencies."

Solidworks is a competitive alternative to AutoCad.

Solidworks never really gives me problems. I would recommend having a decent computer tho.

What they liked

Solidworks is easy to use and has a lot of fascinating features in their 3d modeling software and I can transfer to a printer with ease

Room for improvement

The earlier versions of the software were clunky, but the newest version of the software is great and does not crash for me anymore

What they liked
  • its amazing architecture and incredible features like solid cam
Room for improvement
  • Solidworks has low storage which limits designers from large data processing
Switched From

I wanted a more cheaper to maintan software

Multipurpose 3D modeling with Solidworks Premium

It is really a productive tools if used correctly. Very intuitive and user friendly interface.

What they liked
  • It can be used in almost any kind of industry that manufactures physical products/consumables
  • The learning curve is steep but in the long run it will serve well
Room for improvement
  • There are too many features that might not be useful for one type of company, still one has to pay for the full package
  • Steep learning curve

Solidworks Premium: Powerful Software with High Demands.

Verified reviewer

What they liked
  • Solidworks Premium is extremely intuitive and easy to use
  • It has a well thought out and premium looking UI, and complex parts can be modeled and drawn to a very high standard
Room for improvement
  • Solidworks Premium does require a moderate to high end system to run efficiently and with good user experience
  • The average laptop with 8-16GB RAM does underperform, and the experience is noticeably degraded when even a browser tab or text document was open, a task I feel it should not struggle with
  • For an assembly with only 350 components, I would expect less than 8GB of system RAM usage

What they liked
  • All levels of simulations including mechanical, materials and performance
Room for improvement
  • The physical simulation part needs some improvement
  • Also it lacks AI upgrade

SoldWork works!

SolidWorks has been very reliable and any time I have had issues, it is the fault of my hardware.

What they liked

SolidWorks let me translate my ideas into something other people can understand exactly how I do

Room for improvement
  • SolidWorks can be pricey, but in a business, it easily pays for itself
