About Joan

Joan is a room scheduling and booking solution that helps businesses of all sizes find and reserve available meeting rooms and work desks according to individual requirements. The room grid functionality allows users to view multiple meeting rooms with names, locations and availability status. Joan's team grid module enables supervisors to track team members’ activities and availability, reducing work interruptions. Administrators can configure the platform in multiple languages, set office timings and upload business logos. Additionally, managers and leaders can generate reports to gain insight into room utilization rates, track meeting patterns, identify popular rooms and monitor no-show meetings. Joan facilitates integration with several third-party applications, such as Office 365, Slack, Zapier, Microsoft Teams, and more. It also provides iOS and Android mobile applications, which let users book rooms remotely. It is available on monthly or annual subscriptions and support is extended via documentation, email and FAQs.

The only room booking tablet an idiot like me could implement

For a small business without an IT team, for a company that doesn't want to provide power outside every conference room, or for companies of any size who care more about something that is simple to buy, setup and maintain, I heartily recommend Joan. The value is incredible.

What they liked
  • The best thing about Joan is the hardware
  • Unlike every other tablet-based solution, I can mount them without wiring and they only need to be charged every week or two
  • The software itself is a little annoying to set up (and the desktop software is wonky) but we're seeing great compliance among our employees
  • At the end of the day, that's all that really matters
Room for improvement
  • While the setup was something I could handle myself (I'm not some IT wizard, I'm just the product manager tasked with getting office technology working) the process was a little complicated
  • The desktop software necessary to configure Wifi on the tablets looks old and sometimes crashes/freezes
  • The website is a bit tricky, too
  • But this is small compared to the fact that *I was actually able to set this up*

Easy to use Office Management software

Overall it has been a positive experience with Joan. The software is reliable and does as advertised.

What they liked
  • Very easy to setup and maintain
  • Mainly use the product of desk booking and we were able to implement the software within a week and get the employees using the product straight away
Room for improvement

The subscription model has changed so it can make it a lot more expensive depending on what modules you were using

Great software, terrible hardware

In conclusion, I believe from a cost/value perspective getting some cheap iPads that are anyway plugged in all the time will provide a better user experience for a lower cost. I like the idea and as pointed out in the pros, the software interface is really neat, but it's let down by terrible hardware implementation.

What they liked
  • The software interface is done very well
  • As is the visual design of the tablet
  • This would be a fantastic solution, were it not for two major downsides
Room for improvement
  • The biggest issue is the battery
  • I think the tablet has issues with mesh networks where multiple wifi access points share the same SSID
  • Even directly below an access point, the tablet complains about connectivity
  • I believe it connects to the wrong (i
  • e
  • further away) access point, which results in a high battery drain
  • We have to recharge the tablets every few weeks which is significantly below the guidance of the manufacturer
  • The other issue is the touch control
  • I'm not sure if this is an issue with the e-ink display itself or simply a terrible touch layer that's used
  • But in the end, you might need quite a bit of force to use the display

Amazing, straight forward, no bugs whatsoever, quick support response time and the office work environment became better

  • Since we have a big office, we're keen on adding a floor plan in the reception area so that the users know what rooms are booked or not

A Beautiful and Functional Tablet with Great Support, but Mind the Mount

Our overall experience with Joan Tablets has been very positive. The beautiful e-ink displays, fantastic battery life, and powerful features like the visitor management system make them a great solution for managing our office space. While the physical durability is a concern, the exceptional customer support has always been there to help, making them a worthwhile investment. I would highly recommend these, but with the caveat to place them somewhere they are unlikely to be bumped.

What they liked
  • Joan makes fantastic tablets that have significantly improved our appointment management
  • We use about 15 of them, and they are beautiful and extremely easy to use, displaying upcoming meetings and the current meeting status at a glance
  • What I like most is the e-ink display; it's gorgeous and makes the tablet incredibly battery-efficient
  • We only need to charge them once a month or every two months
  • While the initial cost may seem steep, the value is justified by the incredible customer support we've received, which has resolved every issue we've had
  • Beyond meeting rooms, the visitor management system is a significant pro
  • It streamlines the check-in process, replacing manual sign-in sheets with a smooth, digital experience
  • Visitors can pre-register or sign in on the spot, and the system can automatically send notifications to the host's email, SMS, or via an app alert, ensuring they are promptly aware of their guest's arrival
  • This creates a much more professional and seamless first impression
Room for improvement
  • The biggest issue we've had is with the physical hardware
  • The magnets, while seemingly secure, allow the tablets to fall easily if they are gently bumped
  • On top of that, the case is prone to splitting or breaking upon impact
  • While we've been lucky that most have continued to function, this lack of durability is a concern

Great App, very intuitive

The over all experience is good, and I love the interface. Thank's God that until now it was not needed to contact the customer support, and that all works smoothly. I am really enjoying the App.

What they liked
  • It is a very easy to use App, that allows you to book a free desk on a daily basis
  • As we are 60 people and only 30 desks, it is very important for us to have such an App
  • Each time when I go to the office I can choose my desk, do the Check In procedure remotely from my phone, and have my desk ready when I arrive
  • I can also see who is sitting in the office next to me in that specific day
  • The App works great without having any bugs nor issues, and did not provide any error until now
  • It is very usefull and a great value for money
  • Making an appointment is really easy and intuitive
Room for improvement
  • The load time of the application is sometimes too much
  • The App is very slow and I have to wait until the Map is loaded
  • When I go from one day to the next one, it takes a lot of time to load the map
  • Also, sometimes the App in the Windows EDGE Browser is slow and takes more than 10 seconds to load the map

Great Tool for Desk and Workplace Management

Overall, I’m more than satisfied with Joan as a workplace booking platform. It really simplifies the whole process of organizing my workday, from choosing a desk to quickly checking who’s around in the office. I find that it not only saves me time but also improves collaboration, since I can easily plan to sit near the colleagues I need to work with. The interface is clean, intuitive, and makes the experience feel effortless, which is something I value a lot in tools I use every day. Even though there are the occasional small bugs with the desk status colors, they don’t outweigh the benefits at all. For me, Joan has become an essential part of the modern workplace setup, and I can genuinely recommend it to any team or company looking for a simple and effective solution.

  • It makes it so much easier to plan ahead and also to connect with the right colleagues
  • I also appreciate how clear the overview is, I don’t have to waste time checking with others or guessing, the system just gives me all the info I need right away
Room for improvement
  • Unfortunately, the system does sometimes bug out
  • Instead of desks showing up clearly as green (available) or red (occupied), they occasionally appear grey, which makes it confusing
  • Apart from that small issue, I honestly don’t see any other negative points

  • Joan App is very easy to use with the Joan devices showing true value for money
  • The customer support has been very helpful for easy configuration and prompt response
  • Visitor management and notifications come in real time making it more efficient
Room for improvement
  • Joan devices does not support multi colour resolution to make it look more attractive
  • Joan devices should have more analyics about the rooms and which user books the room
