Managing Energy data and use to make data driven decisions!
Our experience has been positive - we are finding the easy of getting data out of the program and reports with ease and now not having to do double entry with invoice loading and usage. Reports are easier than in the past and not having to use third party software to crest and populate. We are still determining our full usage - the customer service has been outstanding and professional. They are extremely knowledgable of their product but very helpful and the training is outstanding and on-going!
- It was an module of our work order system and the integration was easy - almost plug and play since we already had the Global data information
- A wonderful tool for managing the data of our energy as well as budget funding for the energy
Not sure - still working to find at all that it does - so much power and capability and a very useful tool so we are still working to figure out all it does

Energy Manager as a Energy Management Tool
Having a woven connection into my EPA reporting is a significant benefit, and it is especially useful for finding the reporting items that senior management finds compelling. It was worth the increased cost of moving up from less compatible, less expensive programs. Energy Manager has a detailed set of modules that can really tune your reporting and allow you to measure what you are managing.
- Once I was able to sit down with The loaded and functional Energy Manager program, I found the interface to be very intuitional
- I also found that the reporting was easy to set up and draw out the wanted information
- Inputting current billing information is easy, if you have the time
- I don't have the time, so having the Dude team able to pull the information from the same sources I do and populate the billing information for me is going to keep my reporting information and Energy Star stats always up to date
- That's a win
- I was able to try out the Interval Data module but it wasn't successful as an application for us as the information was about 2 days behind
- having real-time information is the best way to utilize that data
Switched From
I made the switch from EnergyCAP because I felt That the main feature they use to tell you about your dollar savings history is disingenuous. It seems to add savings to your overall amount continuously, but doesn't discount forward-facing losses that sneak in as fluctuations occur in building efficiency trends. The program also had cumbersome and sometimes confusing reporting metrics.
Why they chose it
"It was a really attractive and developed interface and reporting capability that made it easy to choose the Energy Manager product."

- The product delivers what I need when the data is input completely
- I mainly use it for usage and consumption values and for bill historical record keeping
- The data input team does not input all the data
- When a bill has multiple account on the same bill, they will not enter in the data for each account to the appropriate section
- This makes for missing data which skews the usage and consumption and also impacts other reporting requirements such as ISR
- Due to this the bill gap analysis is large and growing
- I have even sent in the bills multiple times with negative results

Excellent choice for Utility Management
The customer service is top notch, and the available training bank has answered every one of my questions so far.
Ease of entering utility bills and changing information Clear and concise reporting that can be easily customized
The time it takes for me to enter complex bills, but that would be solved with the auto integration feature that we don't have currently

Energy Manager
Using Energy Manager helped us identify and extensive gas & water leak in 2 of our buildings. Without this program we had to use an Excel spreadsheet and there was too much room for errors.
- Easy to input the information
- The reports are used to identify leaks or overuse in our buildings
- Cost comparisons month-to-month is very useful
I believe that the way the report building features could have more presets templates, however it is fairly easy to set one up yourself
Switched From
Spreadsheet was difficult to see the usage/cost trends.
Why they chose it
"Cost and easy to use."

Great Product
Easy to enter data, either by importing from a spreadsheet or individual accounts. For those that are data-handicapped, but speak to visual presentations, the EM can easily present many types of graphs. Those that in tools that Excel provides, such as Pivot Table, Power Pivot, the EM does not choke on downloading decades of data into a format that can be readily used by those tools. What stands out the most is that our entire database spanning decades of monthly data can be downloaded into an Excel spreadsheet without any hick-ups. Uploading energy reports to state agencies is a breeze.
- It simple, yet powerful enough for regular energy data management
- All its tools are well designed and pose no problems
- If there are any issues, they are minor
- Excellent technical support
- Nothing in particular stands out, as there are many functions that I have not explored as much, but most are very useful
- One minor cosmetic that should be addressed is the format of date, which in a downloaded form appears as text, which requires Text-to-columns manipulation in Excel

Really good for data collection
We use the input data collection more than anything. So overall we have a good experience.
- The easy of inputting data
- The included reports work very well
- Two items I do not see our data in Portfolio Manager
- Reports are too difficult to produce

PLU - Energy Manager Review
Verified reviewer
- Integration and data export went smoothly after capturing the historical data we wanted pulled from FAMIS
- The cloud service and program is easy to use and allows for correction of any data entry errors with ease
- I even like how you can attach the actual bills to each specific account
- This is a robust program that has lots of features I am sure I don't even know about or have come across yet
- If you don't use certain reports or add them to Quick Links you may forget what report to use when you go look for it the next time
- When creating a detailed import spreadsheet you have to be sure to line up the columns and rows to the tag etc
- , this can be challenging to remember to include all the requirements if you need to add one down the road (and don't have your initial notes from years ago)

My experience with Energy Manager
Our City is using the Energy Manager to make informed decisions regarding best management practices with sustainability, building energy retrofits, and water usage monitoring and conservation. It's been a valuable tool.
- The software has an easy to use dashboard and overall interface
- It's very intuitive and the reporting is very useful
- The software allows employees in an organization varying levels of accessibility and user privileges
- What I like most about the software is the ability to make organizational sustainability decisions based on the data and the ability for our Public Works Department to identify inefficient facilities or irrigation leaks and issues in parks
- The software has many useful applications
- Can't say there's anything I don't like about the software
- Training from Dude Solutions is necessary to take full advantage of the reporting and features
