Fluxx Grantmaker - The Absolute Best for Creative Collaborative Grantmaking
My overall experience has been a good one from the moment I started using Fluxx to meeting [sensitive content hidden] at PEAK and networking with the support team at FluxxCon, as well as connecting with other Fluxx users. It continues to be a journey of learning and growth in my work as grants manager. My program team is forward thinking, innovative, collaborative state-wide and just out-there in amazing ways in what they want to do. It is fun and challenging to create the builds they can imagine with help from Fluxx. I am an honest user who struggles with new stuff on my plate but Fluxx helps me find the solutions step-by-step and we get it done! If you are considering Fluxx Grantmaking, I promise this, you wonʻt regret using Fluxx if you want to grow, learn and do amazing work in your realm of grantmaking. The tool is here. - Iʻve been using Fluxx for three years in my role as grants manager

- Castle Foundation about 20 years ago when we launched the first online grants portal in the State of Hawaii using the Gifts platform
- I moved to the Big Island and retired from another career where I was a grant writer, among other duties, and managed everything from million dollar federal grants to small community grants
- I understand nonprofit work and philanthropy from both sides of the table
- I came back to my old grants management job part-time again in 2022 and had a one-day training in Fluxx
- I already knew the grants management work
- All I needed was to learn Fluxx and be able to work in the Admin panel
- I had videos to watch and Fluxx Support
- With that perspective, what I like and appreciate most about Fluxx is that you can literally build out anything you need to streamline or change up your workflow
- So far Iʻve been able to quickly provide every Fluxx data query my bosses or program staff throw out at me
- The queries are so easy
- For grants management, the system is inclusive as your entire team uses the platform and sees each new action or transaction in the workflow
- However, the best part is that we have been building RFPs for special projects
- Most recently Fluxx support helped me build a locked dashboard that allowed us to spin-off our Youth Leadership Grant Program to a consultant in our community where we can supervise it while the consultant engages with the elementary through high school aged students who apply and do community service to earn funds for Project Grad events and neighbor island field trips
- Fluxx can do what you are only now imagining and the support staff can help you learn to build out new workflows on your own
- You can make the process easy for your applicants and grantees
- Most of all you can rest easy in knowing that platform security is always on their minds
- You work is secure with ongoing updates from some of the planetʻs most talented coders
- Fluxx is just amazing
- My own learning curve made me hesitant about asking for help with minor updates and fixes
- I came in with some coding experience and needed to learn a new card-based platform
- That is honestly what I liked least about Fluxx
- I like to attack a problem and find the solution on my own
- I was not so successful at first
- : ) However, once I started watching the training videos, reading the support articles and submitting help tickets, my knowledge began to grow
- Much of the work in the admin panel is intuitive after some training
- Beyond that you have a wealth of written resources and a very responsive support team
- With the larger builds I was asked to take on, I had working model themes to start with and learned through support tickets how to tweak the model themes to exactly what I wanted
- Building out new forms for RFPS, reviewer scorecards, requests, reports, amendments and auto-email tickers is now in my tool box with support staff assistance
- I even ask the support team for zoom meetings to help me with a portion of my latest build process
- The power to build what ever you need is in FLUXX
- For thinkers, this is an amazing thing
- That is well worth the learning curve and, hey, some of the Fluxx support staff I count as friends
- They get plenty of opportunity to interact and assist with my questions

Fluxx is a best-in-class GMS with an excellent customer experience team
Overall, I don't think there's a better GMS out there than Fluxx. It's user-friendly on both the staff and grantee sides for people who aren't confident database users, and it offers nearly unlimited ways of looking at data for staff who are. Fluxx's customer experience staff are responsive, supportive, patient teachers, and transparent when they can't find an answer. The system's DocuSign integration is light years beyond what I've seen from other platforms. The Admin Panel comes with its frustrations for admin users, but it also provides more customization options and ownership than just about any other system I've worked in. And as a former grant writer myself, Fluxx's Grantee Portal was my favorite to use, hands down.
- On the user side (both staff and grantee), it is best-in-class - I haven't seen another GMS that allows for as much data as Fluxx does present things so simply, cleanly, and accessibly
- The customization options are also very good, and Fluxx's customer experience staff do an excellent job
- For admin users, the Admin Panel is much less clean and simple an experience than the grantee, reviewer, or even employee views
- There doesn't seem to be a single written resource that addresses the system in its entirety, and there's too much detail for every element covered in the "Fluxx University" trainings for admin users to be fully retained forever once the trainings are complete
- It feels like the system has been cobbled together over time, with things living in a variety of places and not always following the same logic
- That disorganization comes through in the ad hoc reporting tool as well, where finding the correct fields to add to a report is incredibly difficult, even with a search function

Ultimately, GivingData didn't have the integrations we needed or the flexibility in reporting/data exports, and we experienced a lot of staff turnover in the staff supporting our account while we were there.

"Our landscape evaluation of available GMS products led to three final options that might reasonably work for us: Fluxx, SmartSimple, and GivingData. Of those, Fluxx made the most sense from both a financial perspective (largely because they were the only platform offering unlimited staff accounts) and a user experience perspective."

CFSEM Fluxx Review
The experience with iNet when we implemented in 2019 was less than ideal. After handing over the reigns to us, and we learned the administrative backend on our own, we quickly realized that the initial build of Fluxx was already unsustainable in the way it was structure. The documentation that was provided was less than ideal and was very little help. The training was also miserably lacking, as our whole staff would likely agree on. Fluxx was a step forward for us, as we have been using a legacy system may decades old, but the longer we used it, the more issues cropped up. The more I learned in the admin panel, the more I realized that the current setup was unsustainable and would eventually require a complete rebuild if we were to remain. We got very little help with that issue (about unsustainability) and little to no advice from Fluxx on how to proceed. We are getting by today, but as we add more programming we continue to struggle to fit things in our current setup. Not only is the setup an issue, the persistent issues with existing functionality, the bugs that arise and take a year to get fixed. Its been frustrating to say the least.

- The service, hands down
- It takes days and weeks sometimes for tickets to be responded to
- We've had tickets open for years that impact the usability and administration of the system
- Tickets sent to engineering get lost in the void so much that its a common jest among the Fluxx user communities
- I often have to reach a point of frustration where I am emailing our Fluxx representative before movement is made
- And still, most often the response is that 'its with engineering'

One Stop Shop!
Fluxx is our one source of truth for all granting activity in our organisation. In due course, it will be good to see the UI modernised.

- Our new Customer Success Manager has introduced herself and made sure that as an organisation we know who to reach out to if required
The grantee interface is a little clunky - but there is new interface coming in 2026, which will be amazing

Recommend Fluxx
We've been on Fluxx for almost 7 years. In that time staff has taken the time to learn and become admins which has been important for us. Having that inhouse knowledge of the system's best practices and structure has been imperative in building and maintaining a system that supports the ever changing needs of our organization. Similarly, we are able to depend on Fluxx (Management, CSM and Support) for assistance as needed for different projects and enhancements. It has been a good partnership.
- The system is very customizable
- Our organization has specific data needs and we are able to meet these needs in a timely manner through managing and building in the system ourselves
- There are times that pulling data into an Adhoc or Excel report can be difficult if you do not know the correct file path
- It can be a guessing game of if a field pull is correct and a lot of trial and error when pulling data

The above product is not correct. We moved from MicroEdge Classic Gifts, but that was not an option and I had to choose one. We needed an updated system that was cloudbased.

High performance, customizable grants platform
Through Fluxx implementations at two different organizations, I have had a very positive experience with both the platform and the Fluxx team. I most recently completed a Quick Start Implementation, which streamlined the process immensely.
- The platform can be customized to meet the specific workflow and process needs of each client
- The user interface, for both internal and grantee users, is intuitive and can be tailored to the needs of specific users
The admin panel can be overwhelming at times, particularly for items you don't access or update frequently

Very satisfied long time Fluxx admin
Very satisfied with the GMS and would genuinely recommend it to any grantmaker.
- -Great functionality out of the box, but with a high degree of customization available to clients -Fluxx as a company is constantly evolving and improving the platform and responding to client needs for features and functionality -Big market share = big customer base = big user community -Active user community, with excellent "Community" website with many channels and robust contributions from users across the spectrum of clients -Long and growing list of third party integrations, including middleware -Excellent user conference (just wish it was every year
- ) -Fluxx company shares my values and those of my employer - this is important for the work we do
- -Fluxx is not a CRM, and although they have gotten better thanks to Fluxx's efforts and those of the robust user community and implementation partners, CRM-like functions aren't naturally built in
- -Client learning and training is not a "one stop" experience; learning (especially as an admin) is cobbled together from documentation, training modules, webinars, user community, consultants/implementation partners, user conference, etc
- -Document management is a pain and could really use a major overhaul -Expensive (although probably similar to close competitors)

(Blackbaud Grantmaking was the only value accepted in the field above, but it was called GIFTS back when we used it) GIFTS was obsolete technology and lacked desired features and functionality.

We've adopted the product and some of the staff!
At onset the pacing of the onboarding process was set well, and the team was very accommodating. The staff building the product frequently answering questions and willing to 'tinker' to service the need of our organization and the uniquities of having our membership agencies as grantees. During the initial testing process, we felt like we could have benefited from more guided instructions (we don't know what we don't know) and perceived that we needed more time during refinement as we had a different perspective/ understanding of how the system worked and needed to make the necessary adjustments. However, our team felt rushed by project management at times to complete the project ahead of schedule - but during meetings expectations/priorities were clearly discussed and interim meetings were held (in-between standing meetings) to ensure the quality of the product.
- The customization of platform is a highlight and the willingness of the team to provide a product that best fit our needs
- There was a team effort to onboard our staff
- Each person was knowledgeable about their particular area and was incredibly helpful
There are some quirks about the platform like, when printing a pdf the text in the blue box is black and difficult to read and the font color for a signal message is very light on the grantee dashboard side

Powerful, Flexible, and Perfect for Public Sector Grantmaking
Our overall experience has been excellent. Applicants love it, panelists love it, and our internal team loves it too. Fluxx works seamlessly with our custom integrations, including the city's unique payment systems and workflows. I’m excited to continue learning and growing with the platform. - As stewards of public funds, there are many checks and balances in place to ensure transparency and accountability and Fluxx supports all of it beautifully

- We’ve been able to create different portals for different user types and grant limited access to those who need oversight on specific pieces, without overwhelming them with backend complexity
- Once you’re familiar with the platform, it’s incredibly powerful
- It has streamlined our entire process, from application tracking to communications, payments, and verification, everything flows more smoothly and efficiently
- I also appreciate the wealth of support available: Fluxx University, the knowledge base, the community, and the support team have all been fantastic
- The team doesn’t just fix issues, they partner with you to improve and optimize your processes when there’s a better, more efficient path forward
- The platform is excellent, but the Fluxx team is what truly sets the experience apart
- I can’t imagine not collaborating with them
- This isn’t exactly a con, but there is a learning curve
- I joined my team mid-implementation, and due to tight deadlines, I didn’t have the chance to fully step back and learn the system from the ground up
- Fluxx provides strong resources, but in some cases, you have to dive in, make mistakes, and learn as you go
- That said, I highly recommend investing time in upfront training and a thoughtful build, it will absolutely save time and effort in the long run

UWCA Fluxx Review
I had the opportunity to work with [sensitive content hidden] in technical support, and he was great. Because of the position I am in, I want to know more than just how to use the Fluxx grant management system, I want to know how to troubleshoot as well. [sensitive content hidden] was very patient with me and was able to answer every question and concern that I had. It was great working with him.

- Also, I love that it can auto generate emails to our clients so we can consistently give them updates on their applications or reports
