Overview

About Google Drive

Google Drive helps users store company data in one place. Users can access files from desktop and mobile devices and control how team members share these files. The platform provides a central admin panel, data-loss prevention and a vault for the drive to ensure compliance and file sharing between users. Google Drive offers team collaboration tools such as Docs, Sheets and Slides. Teams can create new documents and share them with members. They can also engage in real-time document editing and leave comments to update members of changes. It includes machine-learning technology to help users predict future needs. Google Drive provides features like natural-language search and optical character recognition (OCR). Google Drive integrates with third-party applications including DocuSign for e-signatures, CloudLock for additional security layers and LucidCharts for mockups. Users can open different file types like PDFs and MPEG4s, and they can work on Microsoft Word files straight from the drive. Pricing is per month. Support is provided via online chat, email and the phone.

Best option for startup and small companies

For us it is the best ption possible to share company documents and share them between different project teams.

What they liked

Easy to use and it is very straightforward to connect to all the Google ecosystem, so you can have email, docs, sheets, slides, and forms all with one supplier, which is a big pro for startups or small companies like ours

Room for improvement
  • The only cons is that it only works really well within the Google ecosystem
  • You can of course upload Microsoft Word documents and so, but you will not be taking the most of Google Drive functionality if you do that
Why they chose it

"I actually use both of them. Dropbox only for cloud storage of all the company documents, specially those that only I need to access, and Google Drive for documents that are worked in cooperation by several company members and need quick and good sharing options."

Affordable cloud storage for both personal and business

Google Drive is out go-to cloud storage. It has made my remote team feel more connected and has made it easier to share important client documents. It is included in the Google Workspace subscription so the cost is based in.

What they liked
  • Google Drive is the easiest way for me and my time to keep client and internal documents in one place
  • I use this software for both personal and business use
Room for improvement
  • The newest changes in the user interface have not been upgrades in my opinion
  • It can be hard to find shared documents now that they are in a separate location
  • it can also be confusing which Google Drive the email account (personal or business) is attached to
Why they chose it

"Google Drive was included with our Google Workspace subscription. It syncs with all of our other softwares."

Everything in one place

Verified reviewer

What they liked

When you already use Google, it is easy to integrate this into the whole system and store all files and data

Room for improvement
  • It is a Google product, so beware of using that program for critical client data
  • Also, you need an internet connection for most of the data

Google Drive Review

I love using Google Drive. It's been a staple product in my workplace. It's very simple and easy to use. Very user-friendly!

What they liked
  • I like that I can create folders and directly share those with my team members so that we can all work from the same drive
  • It's very easy to use and create folders for specific things
  • The search functionality is very nice, as long as I know a key word of what I'm looking for it pops it up every time
  • The product is worth the investment since it gives you ample amount of storage for all of your data
  • I also enjoy the new AI generated summaries on the documents in the details section
  • I haven't had to use their customer support yet, which is a pro as well
Room for improvement
  • I don't have many cons for Google Drive
  • I love the product
  • It's a lot better than using computer storage for data because it stores everything in the cloud
  • The only thing I can think of is once a person no longer needs to have access to a certain document, it can be hard to remember to remove their access versus it just automatically taking them off
Switched From

There wasn't enough storage, didn't have the same collaborative functions that Google Drive has, not efficient across the company.

Google is the gold standard

Used it for 15 years for 3 jobs and entrepreneurial initiatives as well, and have never been frustrated with it

What they liked
  • It's free
  • Never needed support because it just works
  • It's intuitive and there's not bugs
  • It hosts documents better than outlook
  • Makes it easy to share files and send them with others
  • It's cheap for extra storage
  • google search on my files
  • yes please
Room for improvement

I dislike that my current company uses outlook, and Maybe google can up its conversion efforts and save those of us stuck on it

Why they chose it

"its so much more intuitive and easier to use."

Easy to Use and Share

The experience in total is very seamless and is most useful when interacting with contractors or other firms that are smaller because they can access these files easily whether or not they are in the Google environment.

What they liked
  • Generally the ability to quickly navigate between the file directories, keep shortcuts, preview files, are all welcome
  • The ability to use sharing inside and outside of our organization made it a lot easier to collaborate on documents instead of sending them back and forth
Room for improvement

There are some times where, if loading images, it loads slowly because it's rendering the whole photo as opposed to rendering in lower definition version first

Why they chose it

"The tool was generally more accessible to many different people than the alternatives, especially for collaborating outside of the organization."

Very reliable all-rounder for file management, sharing, and collaboration

Verified reviewer

What they liked
  • As part of the Google ecosystem, it's extremely well integrated into other key Google products such as Gmail, but also third-party apps and devices such as Slack and being accessed via shortcuts on the iPhone -- my main use cases and applications
  • File upload and download is very reliable and quick, and is easy to do as well
  • Additional storage space comes as part of the Workspace bundle which makes the pricing of its storage competitive with other providers
  • Sharing files is super easy and you can easily control how much or little access you want to give, and to who
Room for improvement
  • One really key issue for me -- it's frustrating that it doesn't support viewing or opening files that are larger than 100mb
  • As a marketer frequently dealing with large files (graphics-heavy), it means that I still have to pay for a separate piece of software to access those certain files outside of Google
Why they chose it

"Ease of use and simplicity of the interface, as well as integration with the rest of my business software."

Google Drive has great use

My experience with Google drive is exceptional. It can be used for free or some of the services and be upgraded for a fee depending on what you need. Google thought of it all when the created the Google drive, its easy of uses and ability to collaborate all google programs in one space makes it the best tool.

What they liked
  • the fact that I can access the any where, online or offline, is truly a lifesaver
  • It can be used on a personal or professional level
  • Which is equally important
Room for improvement
  • To be honest I do not currently have any cons
  • Google Drive does exactly what I expect it to do and serves well
Why they chose it

"The ease of use and mobile access are why I generally use Google Drive. I don't recall ever having to trouble shoot or loosing information."

Best collaboration and cloud storage tool

Fantastic software that makes backing up important files so easy. I don't know what I would do without it!

What they liked
  • Great value for the price
  • The search feature works really well
  • It is easy to collaborate and share documents
  • You are able to customize the amount of storage you need
  • Very easy to upload to as well
Room for improvement
  • Honestly, I have not had any issues
  • Sometimes it is annoying when you cannot preview certain file types, but if that is the worst thing I can think of - that's pretty great
Switched From

I made the switch because OneDrive does not have as many collaboration or sorting features
