Great program for managing my commercial roofing company

This software makes sure we are being profitable and shows us where we need to do better on different kinds of jobs.

What they liked
  • This software tracks my employee time and job location
  • Great for seeing how long jobs are actually taking
  • The estimating portion is awesome once you have your pricing entered
  • Estimating templates make sure you don't forget parts or pieces to the estimate
  • Great customer service

Many choices. Glad I made this one.

Overall I'm completely satisfied with the software itself as well as the support I've received. Additionally the QuickBooks and Companycam integrations are a huge bonis. I highly recommend.

What they liked
  • Moving from a more service oriented CRM, job costing was the main reason for the switch
  • Specifically bid vs actuals and how time is tracked onto projects
  • The granular nature of the bidding and tracking process has given me a much clearer picture of my producticity and profitability
  • Additionally, as I'm starting to branch into prevailing wage projects, the natural flow pushes toward AIA bidding which is a requirement on many of those projects
Room for improvement
  • Hard to give much criticism so far
  • The software is pretty robust and comes with a learning curve
  • That said, the support's been great and to emphasize a previous point, it really forces you to see your business as a whole

Highly Disappointed

Our company moved from a total accounting program that encompassed project management geared toward construction, to Knowify Project Management app with QuickBooks Online. Once we paid for our subscription, the subscription names changed and although we are grandfathered in to what we purchased, any enhancement comes with a cost; the first request (tracking of overtime) was DOUBLE the subscription price. As a company that utilizes American Institute of Architects (AIA) project management and billing, we rely on project reports that tell us how much is booked vs spent on each phase, how much we have paid our subcontractors (minus retention) and how much our direct labor and burden costs are to-date. There is not a single report in this app that can tell me these important facts. There IS NOT a report that tells me the value of each phase, how much I have paid the subcontractor(s), and what our direct labor and burden costs are, to date for a specific project; vital information for any general contractor.And, even though Knowify can populate to QuickBooks, it does do so in the reverse. All invoices and expenses (including credit cards) entered into QuickBooks on a project DO NOT populate to Knowify automatically. One has to copy the url link for said invoice or expense, and paste it to a populate screen where it puts the expense into the project, but does not put it into the correct phase. One has to do that manually as well.

Inexpensive for what it does (but there is more of what it doesn't do, than what it does)

  • Many features used in AIA project management are lacking

Knowify has incredible potential, it could one day compete with the bigger giants of the industry such as PROCORE.

What they liked
  • The ease of creating a Proposal, sending it to a client and allowing them a way of accepting it digitally
  • Knowify allows you to see the GP of your projects quickly and has a simple ways of accessing many tools
Room for improvement
  • The scheduling portion needs an overhaul, employees not assigned to a job don't have visibility of where other employees are assigned
  • There are times when the time tracking app glitches and closes
  • time tracking ans scheduling should be cleaner and easier

Knowify is the solution

Knowify has always provided excellent customer service. In my opinion the program provides excellent project management at a fraction of the cost. They listen to their clients and strive to improve the program. I highly recommend Knowify.

  • Knowify is a good value for the money project management system
  • It's easy to learn and very user friendly
  • It's available online & through their app making it easier to manage projects in the field and office
  • It syncs with QuickBooks allowing you to facilitate and coordinate both your project management and financials in a single entry
  • Knowify allows you to easily collaborate your project with your client too

Knowify has made many improvements that have resolved some of the software limitations but there are still some that exist

What they liked
  • AIA billing feature is one of the easiest things I have dealt with
  • Additionally, we really appreciate the featuring vendor management and compliance
  • The Development team has been very accommodating on our companies needs
  • We enjoy working with Terrin and Christina
Room for improvement
  • The Gannt chart capabilities are clunky and a little complicated when it comes to dependencies
  • It may be more of a learning curve than anything
  • The resource board is a little complicated since our project have mutliple phases that the subcontractors are responsible for and when scheduled on one item they do not go over into other phases
  • [ie
  • if we have Electrical Rough in and Schedule Electrician A and we also have phase Electrical Top out it will not automatically pull the electrician into that phase meaning there is a lot of time input to make sure the schedules are correct
  • ] The bill approval integration with QB is annoying
  • When the bill is input into knowify it only allows the option to sync with QB or not PRIOR to the approval or rejection
  • This is annoying because bills that are not approved appear on the QB feed as though they were approved

Almost there!

90 percent pleased. It is frustrating for you guys to say to use the feedback and then nothing ever comes of it.

What they liked
  • The ease of most of the software
  • There are a few things still not working as we need them to
  • But hopefully they will be rectified soon
Room for improvement
  • That I have made suggestions that seem to fall on deaf ears through the feedback portal
  • They may be merely suggestions to Knowify, but they are must haves for our office staff
  • We need to be able to search for customers by phone number or address or even their email address
  • We also need a print function, without having to download and print from there
  • It is time consuming to have all of these extra steps just to print something

Customer Support

Hands down my support and technical team! They are continually there to answer my questions and help walk me through our program step by step. The technical team were great getting our templates exactly like we want the to look and added a few new features for our company

  • Definitely the online support
  • All products do offer same idea on what we need but it is the support that makes this program stand out
Room for improvement
  • The plan and track percentage increase option on the labor
  • Would be so much better if they gave the option for set rates like the Cost plus time & materials option

It actually was T-JAC's but this was not one of your options. It was too simple for our changing needs and it was not able to import or export properly for our needs

Knowify Rocks!

We’ve loved it and it has really helped us scale. It keeps all document numbers in order, helped with professionalism and allowed us to spend more time bidding jobs instead of on spreadsheets.

  • It keeps our expenses organized and all documents regarding projects organized
  • We’ve ditched the spreadsheets which has given us so much more time for other things

I would love more integrations with accounting tasks that don’t require syncing different softwares

The inability to have multiple templates for proposals and also not being able to edit or change the proposal template without contacting knowify's it team
