Project management tool
Overall, it is a great project management tool and software. It is only as good as you put the time in to add project management details.
- I like most about smart sheets is project organization and project/ task management
- It makes these aspects very manageable
- There are aspects of this software that are a bit tedious
- At times every miniscule detail of project management can get initiating

Wish I Had Smartsheet Years Ago
I've been a Smartsheet user since October 2024, and honestly, when I go back to Excel, it's almost painful (and I am one of those people who loves Excel). I have found a way to do almost everything I want with the program, even if it takes a few helper columns and a couple reports to get everything just right on the final dashboard. But having forms and summary reports available for everyone at one click is an absolute gamechanger!
- Smartsheet is so much more customizable and flexible than using Excel and Word and OneDrive to accomplish the same tasks
- We can create custom reports and dashboards so end-users can see exactly what they're looking for without having to scroll or search or schedule meetings to get the answers they need
- Sometimes the functionality seems limited
- For instance, I can set reports to sort automatically, but I cannot set sheets to sort automatically
- We need to manually sort them or right-click and reset the sorting filters each time
- While automated sorting has the potential to cause issues while working with live data with others, it would be preferable to at least save the sort settings so they do not need to be recreated each time

Smartsheet allows us to seamlessly collaborate with teams across the country, cross-linking our reports and dashboards and creating summary data that can be customized to every team's needs. I don't know if I can go back to Excel after this - it's truly a gamechanger!

Smartsheet Still Going Strong
4 years into using Smartsheet and I'm as happy as ever to be using the product. We shopped around last year to see if any other products would serve us better, and we ended up staying with Smartsheet as we found their offering to still be the best fit for our need.
- I've been able to re-use the solutions I've developed for other teams' needs
- These repeatable processes are huge time-savers and allow me to serve more people and teams than I had ever anticipated
- The Smartsheet Community is a great place to collaborate and find peer support free of charge
- Several enhancement requests that have been requested for many years have still gone unanswered and sometimes even seemingly ignored
- Many people would be much happier if some of the low-hanging fruit (easy to develop requests) was "picked" to be developed

Task management tool - excel w/ a few bells and whistles
I don't get the hype at all. Yes it's free, yet it's like excel so you can keep creating columns but that gets in the way if you're trying to scale across the enterprise. Flexibility and consistency don't go along.

Time to transition away from Smartsheet
Overall the experience has been good till the last year with the drastic pricing changes and relatively short lead time.
- Initially we used Smartsheet due to its rich collaboration features which Excel did not have at the time back in 2014
- It had a better UI/UX experience and seemed intuitive to use
- The ease of collaboration worked well for a period and the webform builders worked well initially
- For a company largely just using the system for Excel style workflows and collaboration its price is prohibitive when we already pay for 365
- Recently their redesign of subscription and user types has meant that our Not for profit company goes from $600 per year $4000
- This is after we have largely committed to using it for many business operations involving external suppliers
- With a razor thin IT budget, these kinds of changes to billing are catastrophic with relatively little lead time to transition away
- Larger businesses would suffer worse with a change like this resulting in a pivot of critical systems

Just use a spreadsheet instead
Not very impressed with the tool in general. There are a few unique features but overall its faster and easier to just use a spreadsheet for project management.
- I like the different customization capabilities and the way that exec dashboards can be built
- A lot of features to facilitate internal and client collaboration within the tool
- Mainly used as a project management tool
- Nice that it functions like a spreadsheet because it makes it easy to use and there isn't an onboarding curve
- The cost isn't worth it in my opinion
- There are some great features but this is mostly just a glorified spreadsheet
- A lot of what I used this platform for can be done in an online/collaborative xls

Looking for options that were easier to adopt and didn't require an onboarding process.

- it supports effecient workflows and collaboration
- For pricing I would say that overall corect regarding more collaborations features it offers
- Sharing still my disapoint part
- It not possible to share content with people that don't have a license

Smartsheet definitely offers more collaboration capacity, but switching should not be necessary if you work basically with spreadsheets.

I like the ease of collaborating with colleagues and sharing protected documents for projects and meetings
It would be nice if multiple colleagues were able to work on a Smartsheet at once without worrying about accidentally overriding the other's work

Smartsheets is a very good tool
I would give it an 8 out of 10. We use it for several tracking items and client management. It's very good value for the money
- The ease of use is very nice
- It's great to use as a check log
- I also think it's pretty cool that several people can work in smartsheet at the same time
Sometimes it's a little glitchy sometimes and sometimes there are issues with see what's been added unless you refresh

Tedious, but effective.

- It is an effective way to keep track of access reviews for my company
- It allows us to make sure internal tool access is not deactivated for those who need it
- For mass approvals, it is tedious to make selections quickly
- Myself, I have had up to 14 associates to review access for
- Sometimes our tools have 10 or more variables for one access point, meaning I had to make 140 or more clicks to complete the review
