Something for Every Company
Overall, my experience with Toast POS has been great. Programming is relatively easy and intuitive to figure out. The reporting features, tip management, and online ordering are just a few of my favorite things about Toast.
Ease of use for front of house team members, and guests and the many different features that Toast POS has that can be specified to our needs
Support calls can take a long time to get to the right department and have someone know how to fix the issue

Strong POS system
I really like the system and consistently recommend it to all my clients. Toast POS is reliable, user-friendly, and well-suited for restaurant operations. It has become a key part of how we manage and streamline day-to-day tasks
- I migrated to Toast POS four years ago and have been very satisfied ever since
- It’s a reliable, restaurant-focused platform that covers everything from front-of-house to back-of-house operations
- The system is intuitive, stable, and continues to evolve with features that truly support daily restaurant management
- Although Toast POS has improved a lot over the years, there’s still room for improvement in the inventory management features
- It works for basic tracking, but more advanced inventory controls and reporting tools would make a big difference, especially for multi-location operations
Switched From
I switched from Clover mainly because of the poor customer service experience. With Toast, I found not only a more robust platform for restaurant operations but also a much more responsive and professional support team

Toast is a modern and still growing POS and restaurant management product
Toast has helped us organize and stay nimble through aggressive company growth. Looking forward to the next period with Toast where we adopt their HR, payroll, and scheduling features.
- Toast allows users to log on to its website to edit menu items, run reports, track punch-in's
- In the past, POS systems were loaded into desktops in the back office
- It's so refreshing to update, edit, and from anywhere because it's based off a website
- The devices that Toast has selected for installation in the restaurants are modern, slim, and highly functional
- Toast can slow down, which isn't good news when the restaurant is busy
- The sales tracking is still not as robust as I would hope from a product that does so much else so well
- For instance, it can be hard to get results on the sales of a menu item for an entire year

Similar to other POS in its class but lots of fees
We only did a trial with Toast then decided to use Cake and Square instead. The time we had it we were able to pick up basics quickly and I like the reporting options it had. The cost and hidden fees were not in our budget though.
- Toast is user friendly, intuitive, and simple making it quick and easy for staff to pick up
- This reduced training time helps our bottom line and keeps things running smoothly
- It also has all the integrations a restaurant would need, DoorDash, GrubHub, payroll, etc
- The cost was not worth what you get from the software and was much higher than its competitors
- While start up cost was relatively low, the monthly fees, hidden fees, fees for every single thing add up and it becomes a very expensive monthly bill
Why they chose it
"We ultimately did not. We did a trial with a free starter kit that got us the equipment at no cost while we tried the POS in house. The cost is what drove us away from Toast. We decided there were other products that had all the same functionality at a much lower cost."

A POS worth your time
Positive. Our team has found most of the features really helpful to our business, and we have 5 different stores, all using toast. We've had a few bumps, but they've never ignored us, or made us wait.
- I've been using toast for seven + years, and the big reason I stick with them, is they are always adding new features
- Some, I don't use, but I've always appreciated the new things, along with off line payments when our local provider has issues
- Pricing
- It's not expensive to get into, but they like to add charges ( monthly ) to everything
- It adds ups but if it can make you more money, than I don't see an issue with them getting their beak wet

Non recommended for Concession or Non-Profit
Our requirements were for a simple POS with high rates of customer throughput at a concession. Similar to a football game at half time. The system is very capable, except for some issues with payment terminals that were eventually resolved. High paced concession throughput is a bit of a challenge. Our organization is a small non-profit with concession turnover less than $300k. All of our executive are volunteers and do not meet on a weekly or monthly basis. The TOAST support people seemed to be obsessed with communicating with the "owner" which there is none. We would get stuck in circular communications. I would not recommend TOAST for a non-profit. I do not believe a business owner would have the same issues.
- TOAST POS is a very useful POS with great menus, good back end and reporting
- We really like the integration to QBO using a third party tool
- The startup and training is well done
- The cost is double what we were paying before; however, the operational returns are well worth the cost
- TOAST support it very poor
- We struggled to get payment terminals working correctly
- Our customer facing team needs to deal with 3 to 5 walkup clients per minute
- The team couldn't deal with troubleshooting terminals on the telephone with support and serving customers at the same time
- The problem was solved by a technician looking at the transaction logs and sending a replacement terminal
- Our biggest challenge was changing banks
- We had three attempts to get the new banking set up, and received confirmation that the request was completed
- This process took more than two months and included email, telephone, and service tickets
- When our payments to TOAST stopped due to this problem, we got more attention
- Unfortunately, TOAST support often sent requests to the wrong people, ignored our emails and comments in the service tickets, and asked for the same information several times
- The support frustration and extra work do not make up for the good product

We wished to upgrade to online, integrated tools.

Good software, terrible support!
The system itself is pretty good, as is the hardware. The major problem, and the reason for the one star review, is the absolutely disgraceful customer service and support! We lost over £20,000 in the first month of using the system, due to complete negligence by toast staff in supporting us with basic issues, and set up of the toast system. We was literally abandoned after we received the hardware and banged our heads on the wall trying to get help. We was then sent 2 additional KDS screens, which was an apparent mistake, and was then told they would be taken back, but instead, Toast slipped the subscription for the 2 additional screens into our monthly bill. Further to this, I have been trying to contact several members of the toast team so we can send the system and hardware back (as we certainly won’t be using it again) and, surprise! Zero response from Toast. The toast system also blocks many QR code/mobile order payments for no apparent reason, which Toast states is a bug they’re working on, but of course, I never received answers for questions I posed on this matter. Do not waste your time or money dealing with these cowboys! Chargrill Cabin, Camber Sands
- Software works well and is efficient, if set up appropriately
- Hardware is of good quality and works ok
- Appalling customer service following delivery of hardware
- Support is absolutely awful, literally non-existent

Toast, functionality and portability
Positive, they have live support ready to answer most of our concerns. They have options for screen sharing as well. So you can show them what the issue is right on the POS.
- Functionality, ease of use of the POS and tons of features and options that can be modified to our liking
- AI driven campaigns and promos, with real time sales tracking
- If using multiple restaurants, and one employee works at two of them, the manager even with full access for the first restaurant, it cant make employees changes like wage or permission
- That should be fixed by location, because that employee may work different positions with different permission…

An effective platform for a mom and pop restaurant
I’ve made new menus, created LTO offers, and helped cater the online platform to our restaurants needs.
- I love the customization options
- It’s so easy to add and publish new items on the go from the handheld devices or POS Stations
- Bugs
- Lots of weird bugs and down time during dinner service
Why they chose it
"Familiarity of the product. I would have Went a different route but it’s extremely hard to switch to a different POS"

Toast POS is a good program for businesses
My overall experience with Toast POS has been great. The only aspect I don't enjoy is the connectivity issues with external programs. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does, it creates issues. The software runs efficiently and the layout is very organized.
- The aspects I enjoy about Toast POS is the security, card payment options, mobile access, and restaurant management options
- I enjoy that the system will lock out after a period of time of not using it; prevents theft and guest information being leaked
- I really enjoy that you can have tap-to-pay as an option; this really helps with efficiency
- We also use the mobile options for bartenders so they can input the order in real-time while taking the order
- Plus, the management options for Toast are very easy to learn and the layout is nicely organized
- The only aspect I don't enjoy about Toast POS is that it will have a difficult time communicating with an external software (Roommaster)
- The company I work for uses Toast POS to charge guests to their room number; sometimes the systems don't communicate and tabs are left unpaid
