About Workyard

Workyard is a workforce management solution purpose-built for construction, contractors, and trades professionals who need accurate time tracking, reliable scheduling, and better control over labor costs. At its core is a GPS time clock app that captures exact clock-in and clock-out locations, as well as travel time and mileage between jobs. Workyard automatically verifies when workers arrive on-site, logs their time and routes, and ties it all to specific jobs or cost codes—making it easy to stay on top of hours, productivity, and project budgets. If someone forgets to clock out, you can set automatic rules based on job site geofences. Even with no signal, offline mode ensures time is always tracked and synced later. For crew scheduling, Workyard replaces whiteboards and spreadsheets with a drag-and-drop calendar. Assign jobs or shifts to individuals or teams, include job site details, checklists, and instructions, and send updates directly to the crew’s phones. Workers can view their schedule, mark tasks as complete, and upload notes or photos from the field—keeping you informed without the back-and-forth. Workyard also simplifies job costing. Workyard - A Fantastic TimeClock GPS App to Help Manage Employees

My experience with Workyard has been really positive. I feel like I can always get ahold of someone to help me if I have a question and there are tons of help articles to guide me if needed. The functionality of the timeclock and GPS has been really fantastic and exactly what we needed.

What they liked
  • Workyard is a great tool that helps me manage my employees who work outside the office
  • I can see where they went and how much time they spent there
  • It has been a real game changer for my company
Room for improvement
  • So far, there is nothing that I don't like about this software
  • I know there is a lot of additional functionality that we don't' necessarily use, but may come in handy int he future
Why they chose it

"Contractor Foreman was more oriented towards project management and building bids, whereas Workyard's time clock and GPS was more what we were looking for."

Helpful for automating time and project management.

We’re a small business, and Workyard has helped us to automate timecards and track details about the projects. With ps turned on we can also see where pur techs are and how long they spend at each location.

What they liked
  • This app has helped us track how much time is spent at each project, and the techs are able to upload photos and mark down any notes they have on the job which aids in billing for extras and adding details for service calls
  • I use the task list to assign jobs each day
Room for improvement

If an employee creates a note, it stays on the date they create it and doesn’t track back to the project they were on

Why they chose it

"Came highly recommended by colleagues in our field"

Not good for construction companies doing government work

Not worth it. SO many features needed for a construction company that they are in no way ready for. No one on WorkYard staff seems to understand prevailing wages and the need for documentation; too cumbersome for employees so compliance was low. Overall - it may be good for a small construction company that does only residential jobs and minimal job costing needs(?)

What they liked

Able to see where employees are in real time as long as there is signal availability

Room for improvement
  • Only 3 pay categories allowed (we do prevailing wages and need much more than 3
  • ); notes do not transfer to Quickbooks; time consuming to set up for multiple crews on multiple sites; employees complain of drain on phone batteries; tracks employees location even when clocked out which EEs felt was a violation of privacy; sells data to third party; if you buy for a year there are NO refunds - so make sure you really like it before this purchase or start with monthly billing; staff had difficult time changing cost codes mid project which is critical for assessing profitability of job; no ability for vacation/sick/holiday input by employees; the above weaknesses unfortunately made for double entry of information so it did not save time or money from the perspective of the administration
Switched From

We were trying to save office staff time and cost

Why they chose it

"Slightly less in price and it seemed that there was some staff familiarity of construction - just not prevailing wages"

Cost & Time Saver

Definitely a cost and time saver. Workyard is always open to new ideas that can make the product better.

What they liked
  • The system is easy to use for both myself as well as employees
  • Accurately tracks job costing
  • I really like the ability to upload time sheets into my accounting software
  • No more time sheets rounded up by employees
Room for improvement
  • Sometimes the auto clock in does not work
  • Also would like to have employees be able to add note to day they do not clock in
Why they chose it

"ease of use, ability to download time sheets onto our accounting software, provide the information I wanted"

Workyard pays for itself.

Extremely positive. Spend a little extra time explaining how it works to your staff. Workyard customer support is fantastic. No lingering issues. They resolve my concerns immediately.

What they liked
  • Project geofencing and gps
  • Total employee accountability
  • No more time cheating
  • We are saving thousands
Room for improvement
  • I have issues with the reports
  • Would like another option added
  • Name, start, lunch in/out finish in editable xls format
  • Easier to add columns to fit my needs
  • I spend a lot of time simplifying the report for payroll
Why they chose it

"I used gps. They unplugged them. I felt Workyard cared more about my business than their bottom line. Very comfortable with the sales process. It just felt right for me."

Don’t get swindled- just use Quickbooks time

We signed up in good faith to try this company’s software. We are a GC in business 30 yrs and wanted features they offered. After sales calls we thought this software would fit our company. They convinced us to prepay for an “annual subscription” up front and promised a 30 day money back guarantee. 9/15/2024 [sensitive content hidden] was helpful, he quoted $3032 (a discount) for 12 users annually (we had to add 1 more user as they require a non functioning user subscription just for admin). We purchase believing the software would work but feeling assured we could cancel, and surely would not be charged for a full year!!! Our onboarding was 9/24/24 (I would assume this is the beginning of us “using the software”) but they might use the purchase date even though we had no idea how to use it. During this period after 9/24 I notified the company via their online chat support (speaking with [sensitive content hidden]) that the features didn’t meet our requirements and that we wanted to cancel. [sensitive content hidden] confirmed this via email, by stating my request to cancel a “few weeks” before. This email was on 10/14 to [sensitive content hidden] which confirmed our wishes to cancel his email to me, [sensitive content hidden] and [sensitive content hidden]. He included a cancellation form which I explained I didn’t see at first, then filled it out 11/1/24. [sensitive content hidden] now states they are not obligated to refund our money because we didn’t cancel within the 30 day window. As you can see it was within this 30 day period and I notified them our desire to cancel within that time— they are hiding behind the use of a form when 3 employees included in the email knew of our request to weeks before 10/14.

What they liked

App was nice Initial sales call was helpful Features very similar to many other time clocking apps

Room for improvement
  • Could not deliver on technology they sold us
  • Mileage and gps tracking was so inaccurate it was unusable
  • No way to manage paid/unpaid breaks
  • Leading to us needing to spend more time fixing time cards
  • No way to export job notes to quick books… this is critical when it comes to billing
  • Lied to us about cancellation
  • We canceled in October a few weeks after signing up… and still almost 4 months later they still hadn’t refunded us and then [sensitive content hidden] the “Customer Success rep” told me they made a mistake but also “We do not give partial credits or refunds for annual subscriptions, per the terms and conditions you agreed to when signing up
  • ” And then claimed “we are not obligated to give any refund as stated in our terms that you agreed to when you paid for the software
  • ” Don’t support this company they are simply bad at actually taking care of customers, and then hide and lie and will keep your money
Why they chose it

"I didn’t - we ended up cancelling because it didn’t meet the requirements we needed."

Workyard - The Best Way to Really Keep Track of How Company Time is Spent!

The app and website are very well designed and appealing. Workyard has really helped me keep better track of how we are using out time as a company.

What they liked
  • Workyard gives me all of the tools I want to manage employee time and location, while being very intuitive to use
  • The geofence features are so easy to use, and provide me with great information
Room for improvement

Paid version is a bit more expensive than I would prefer, but it's definitely still a product worth having

Why they chose it

"Workyard did had so many features that the other apps did not, and was much easier to use."

What they liked
  • Very easy to use application
  • Increases overall efficiency
  • The tracking feature allows me to know that employees are where they should be
Room for improvement

Sometimes during setup, I had to request a second push notification be sent to the employee's device

Why they chose it

"ease of setup and use. Overall function seemed better"

Great starter timeclock software

Great customer service missing some key features.

What they liked
  • I like the GPS tracking and how it works with gusto
Room for improvement
  • The four biggest problems are 1
  • The biggest con is you can't separate two parts of the company on a laptop or iPhone view for the employee's view
  • 2
  • The app lets employees clock in while they are driving which is unsafe
  • 3
  • There is no internal messaging system in the app is something crazy not to have
  • 4
  • The app shows the current phone percentage I want to see how much they had at the start of the day when they clocked in AND CURRENT battery life to see how long they have been on there phone
Switched From

The geo-fence feature was better but it was a little more expensive to switch.

Why they chose it

"Thought they would give a better discount since Workyard is a newer company"

Helpful Management Tool for Tracking Time and Location of Workers

Very good app for tracking employee time and locations

What they liked
  • This app is very easy to use for our workers
  • The GPS tracking is very helpful
  • And being able to have jobsites already saved in the app makes it easy to see which job our workers have worked on throughout the day
Room for improvement
  • As manager, I cannot log an emplyee in and have the GOS find them and track them
Why they chose it

"Easy of Use for our workers during Trial Period."
